About Yami "YamiNoCosmos" Björk

"Never give up, never surrender"

Born and raised in the Swedish capital of Stockholm, she currently resides in the town of Uppsala. At young age, she came into contact with cosplaying through the community of her favorite anime "Sailor Moon". Discovering that there were groups of people all over the world actually making the costumes and then dressing up as the characters at shows and conventions, she was immediately hooked on becoming one of them. Ever since, she regularly attends conventions in different countries, as either a visitor or part of the event staff. Either way, she always has atleast one costume ready to be worn should the opportunity arise. Yami's passion for cosplaying and crafting demands that all her costumes are made from scratch; Cutting corners or buying pre-made parts for them doesn't exist as an option. This ensures the level of quality that she thinks a cosplay or a craft should have; Made with lots of love, delicate care and the intent to honor the original character or item.

Apart from her passionate obsession with cosplaying, her attention spans across a number of different genres. Anime, Yu-Gi-Oh! and Lolita Fashion are just a few of many interests she has that is related to Japan and it's colorful culture. Yami is an avid gamer and big fan of eSports, specifically League of Legends and Starcraft 2. As far as movies and books goes, she's always been fascinated by those that include Horror stories and zombies.

Yami has the word

"For the past 15 years, I've been cosplaying with my inexhaustible strive for perfection and dedication to bring out the best in all my costumes. To me, cosplaying is so much more than simply wearing fabrics and posing with them infront of a camera. It's a demanding and time-consuming craftsmanship that requires many years of practice and skills you've learned during the journey. The costume is meant to showcase your experience and dedication, but at the same time include signs of creativity and the will to take it beyond the basic design. And then of course comes the tricky part of wearing and display the costume in such a way that it does the character (or thing) you're cosplaying justice.

My passion for both Cosplay and Video Games have resulted in several invites to different conventions and events, both in- and outside the Swedish borders. I love to share my knowledge and experience whenever and wherever I can, regardless if it's judging, hosting, holding a panel, organize an event etc. I'm the last person to back down on a good challenge, as the opportunity to learn new and exciting things fuel my motivation and energetic personality to the breaking point. I am the best at what I do, period! ;D"
